Violet by Heritage Line, Halong Bay

A classic journey through the mystical & magical Halong Bay
offers once a life time experience with truly ultimate privacy

Heritage Line’s family of boutique cruise ships includes “The Sisters” of Halong Bay, the youngest of whom is the coquettish Violet. Violet is named after the beautiful Violet Chirita, a delicate purple-flowered plant native to the rocky slopes of Halong Bay. Like her namesake, Violet is small and exquisite.

With just six luxurious cabins, Violet gives visitors an exclusive look at the wonders of Halong Bay. In this small yet luxurious craft, visitors can appreciate the bay’s massive scale, the boat’s red sails dwarfed by the bay’s towering limestone islands.

Built to resemble a traditional Asian junk, the wood-clad Violet features gleaming wooden floors, opulent silks and velvet, and cabins with floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the breathtaking views. Guests will find all the amenities they would expect in a larger vessel, including a spa with unrivaled views, a restaurant and a lounge, and a rooftop Sundeck. For an intimate experience of Halong Bay, there is nothing to compare to the lovely Violet.

Launch: 2009 | Capacity: 12 passengers/6 cabins | Duration: 1,2 nights

We did an overnight stay on Violet in Halong Bay. The whole trip was magical. The boat is beautiful. We stayed in the 'Moon' suite which was very spacious and had a lovely balcony. The food was very good. My husband is very fussy and doesn't eat any seafood so they made a real effort to ensure he had something he liked at mealtimes. We didn't get off the boat for the cave/fishing village trip. We preferred to lounge on the top deck and enjoy the scenery. In the morning we joined the Tai Chi at 7am. Though we did the excursion to the beach we wished we had stayed on the boat. The beach was quite busy and didn't really add to our overall enjoyment. The staff are wonderful. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Being on a small boat was great. Everyone spoke with each other and it was very relaxing. Carlag, UK - TripAdvisor.

Mr Big, the cruise manager, was superb and nothing was too much trouble, his team really gave us some very special memories of our time here. We had one of the junior suites and the room was lovely with a small balcony so we could sit outside and watch the scenery go by. The bed was large and comfortable, there was a decent bathroom, plenty of power sockets and also a tv with some downloaded films (that we didn't get time to watch!). The boat had a small fitness room, sauna and massage area, dining area and then a large top deck with seating and a shaded area. The food was just superb and so much of it! It was all delicious and very well presented, combined with attentive service. There was a program of excursions but they were a pain to be honest. We really didn't have enough time on the boat to just relax and watch the scenery, the whole reason to be there! - TripAdvisor.

Thank you to Ann and the wonderful team aboard the magnificent Violet cruise boat. Their dedication has made our experience first class. Our Cloud suite has spacious, comfortable and a delightful place for the few moments of free time we had. The shore excursions, kayaking and climbing opportunities were well timed around the magnificent meals. Overall, an unforgettable experience. Thank you Ann and your beautiful team. I hope to return with my husband. Annie, Australia - TripAdvisor.

There are plenty of boats on Halong Bay, but the way to truly experience its magic is with a 2-night stay on Heritage Line Violet. There are only 6 staterooms so the feeling of this ship is very intimate. No detail is spared, the food is outstanding, the service is exceptional! We kayaked in a small bay watching monkeys eat tree leaves along the shore, we visited an enormous cave, we hiked up a mountain, and we rafted through a remote fishing village. We did tai chi on deck each morning and had a mini-cooking demonstration each evening before dinner. We watched the sun rise and set, and enjoyed the quiet of the evening under the moon and stars. It was gorgeous, relaxing and romantic! Cindy, USA - TripAdvisor.
