It recreates the romance of those by gone days of traveling under the power of steam. The train ride takes you along the Dandenong Ranges National Park, which consists mostly of rolling hills, steeply weathered valleys, and gullies covered in thick temperate rainforest. See swathes of tall Mountain Ash, and dense ferny undergrowth.

After lunch, visit Ashcombe Maze & Lavender Garden – the home to Australia’s oldest traditional hedge maze and features a Lavender Labyrinth and Circular Rose maze, planted with 1200 roses. Set among 25 acres of wooded and sculpted gardens you can take a self-guided garden discovery trail, loose yourself in the mazes and enjoy a bite to eat in the mud brick Ashcombe café.

Before returning to Melbourne, you will indulge yourself in tasting wines at The T’Gallant Cellar Door – the home of Australian Pinot Grigio vines.
