Mekong Princess Cruises

Dazzling French colonial design romanticizes this modern steel-hulled ship;
the only Mekong River Cruise departing directly from Saigon Harbour.

Siem Reap | Phnom Penh | Mekong River

A modern steel-hulled ship finished in brass and teak, the Mekong Princess is the only Mekong River cruise departing directly from Ho Chi Minh City’s central harbour. Built to explore the shallowest waterways and pass by the narrowest canals of the lower Mekong, the cruise departs every Thursday alternating between Ho Chi Minh City and Siem Reap, and sails even if only one cabin is booked. The cruise makes it way from Vietnam’s largest city, passing through popular tourist locations like Ben Tre and Can Tho by river as opposed to driving to these locations to board the ship as is customary with all other Mekong River cruises. The 5- or 7-night itineraries include stops at rarely visited villages and Mekong islands in Vietnam. Then after the Cambodian border crossing, discover Phnom Penh and Angkor Ban before docking in Kampong Cham, the closest port to legendary Siem Reap.

The ship’s expansive interior is comprised of a covered sundeck where Apsara dances are performed, a sumptuous lounge oozing old-world charm, main restaurant, relaxing spa, modern gym, and 14 decadent luxurious suites. The four Apsara Suites and four Saigon Suites have elegant French doors and private balconies, with the choice of queen or two twin beds. Additionally, there are four more of which the two most luxurious, the Angkor Suites, come with large King beds and spa bathtubs.

Trip Reviews

Today was the final day of an amazing 7 day cruise on the Mekong Princess, upstream, from Ho Chi Minh city to Kampong Cham. From the moment we stepped aboard, until the end of the cruise- we were treated like family. All the staff are so happy and smiling-with such attentive service and attention to detail. From the decor of the ship, to meal presentation, super comfy beds and rooms, excellent airconditioning and wifi- it’s all just wonderful! The shore excursions are outstanding and authentic- not contrived or set up in any way. You really get to see the real Vietnam and Cambodia and their beautiful people and cultures. And I really love that the cruise company gives back to the community by supporting various local charities. Thank you so much to Eric and all the crew for a truely memorable and meaningful holiday. I highly recommend this trip! Sheridan, Australia - TripAdvisor.

From the moment we boarded the Mekong Princess, we were welcomed by all the staff as if we were family. The fact that the ship accommodates a small group is a definite advantage. The cruise director, Eric is extremely helpful and friendly and has an exceptionally well trained crew, for whom nothing is too much trouble. Hygiene and cleanliness are an important feature of the cruise, as are ethical considerations for the environment and local charities. Breakfast and lunch are served in buffet style while dinner is A La Carte. All meals are absolutely delicious, served in gourmet style with friendly, delightful staff. Alcoholic and soft drinks, as well as hot beverages are available at all times. Excursions are planned to suit the coolest times of the day and the local guides are able to convey their broad knowledge in well expressed English and a most friendly manner. We have enjoyed many varied modes of local transport, visiting local villages and activities in an authentic style. My grateful thanks to Eric whose meticulous organisation leaves nothing to chance. He and his staff make this fabulous adventure a holiday of a lifetime with fun and friendships creating lasting memories. Lorraine, Australia - TripAdvisor.

I have done a number of cruises and this experience has hit the top of my list. It is always the staff that make a trip pleasant and the staff on board Mekong Princess go above and beyond to ensure the trip runs as smooth as possible. The food onboard is better than a 5 star restaurant and so is the service. Daily trips to local villages and sites are run very well. If you get an opportunity to do this trip then do so, you won't regret it. Nigel, Perth - TripAdvisor.
