Mission Hills Golf Club is one of Asia's premier golf destinations, with 10 championship courses across Shenzhen and Dongguan. The courses were designed by some of golf's biggest names, including Jack Nicklaus, Greg Norman, Ernie Els, Nick Faldo, Vijay Singh and Annika Sörenstam. Each course has its own character, making Mission Hills an excellent choice for golfers looking for a multi-round golf holiday with plenty of variety.

Shenzhen – 5 Courses

1. World Cup Course – Jack Nicklaus

The World Cup Course is one of the most famous courses at Mission Hills Shenzhen. Designed by 18-time major champion Jack Nicklaus, it hosted the 1995 World Cup of Golf, China's first major international golf tournament. The course combines classic championship design with the natural hills and valleys of the area. Strategic bunkering, demanding greens and well-positioned hazards require golfers to think carefully about every shot. The course has also welcomed many international stars, including Tiger Woods and Greg Norman.

Best for: Golfers looking for a historic, prestigious championship experience.

2. Vijay Course – Vijay Singh

Designed by three-time major champion Vijay Singh, this course features several creative and memorable design elements. The par-4 3rd is particularly distinctive, with a huge 150-yard beach bunker, while the par-5 10th features a dramatic green perched on a rock wall. Singh also incorporated ideas inspired by famous courses around the world. The layout provides a good balance between challenge and playability, making it suitable for golfers of different handicaps.

Best for: Golfers who enjoy strategic and imaginative course design.

3. Ozaki Course – Jumbo Ozaki

The Ozaki Course takes full advantage of Mission Hills' natural terrain. Elevated tees and fairways follow the area's valleys, while natural slopes, native vegetation and lakes provide a beautiful backdrop. The fairways are generally generous, but strategically placed bunkers and challenging green complexes require accuracy. Long views across the valleys make this one of the more scenic courses at Mission Hills.

Best for: Golfers who enjoy scenic courses and natural surroundings.

4. Faldo Course – Nick Faldo

Designed by six-time major champion Nick Faldo, the Faldo Course is China's first stadium-style golf course. The course measures almost 7,000 yards from the back tees and was designed with tournament golf and spectators in mind. The standout hole is the par-3 16th, featuring the region's only island green. The drivable par-4 15th is another exciting risk-and-reward hole. The course also hosts the Grand Final of the Faldo Series Asia, highlighting its importance in junior and tournament golf.

Best for: Golfers who enjoy tournament-style layouts and exciting risk-and-reward holes.

5. Els Course – Ernie Els

The Els Course is one of Mission Hills' longest layouts, measuring more than 7,000 yards. Ernie Els designed the course around a "maintained garden" concept, combining wide areas of manicured turf with dense trees and natural vegetation. The course has a distinctive layout in which no two holes run parallel, creating a feeling of constantly moving through different landscapes. The elevated tee on the signature 4th hole provides impressive panoramic views over Mission Hills.

Best for: Stronger golfers who enjoy long, lush and beautifully landscaped courses.

Dongguan – 5 Courses

6. Olazabal Course – José María Olazábal

The Olazabal Course is one of Mission Hills Dongguan' most prestigious championship layouts. Designed by two-time Masters champion José María Olazábal, it has hosted the World Cup of Golf and the WGC-HSBC Champions. The course can stretch beyond 7,300 yards and features an impressive 151 bunkers, including 24 around the 15th hole. Deep bunkers, undulating fairways and natural streams create a demanding test, while surrounding jungle and mountain scenery add to the experience.

Best for: Experienced golfers looking for a challenging championship course.

7. Annika Course – Annika Sörenstam

The Annika Course was the first golf course designed by women's golf legend Annika Sörenstam. The course is characterised by dramatic elevation changes, with many elevated tee shots looking down into broad valleys. Mountains rising more than 300 metres above the course create spectacular views throughout the round. Beautiful landscaping around the tees and greens gives the course a pleasant botanical-garden feel.

Best for: Golfers who value scenery, elevation changes and memorable tee shots.

8. Rose-Poulter Course – Justin Rose & Ian Poulter

Designed by Ryder Cup stars Justin Rose and Ian Poulter, this course has a more natural and adventurous character. Set among mature trees, jungle vegetation and mountains, many holes present golfers with risk-and-reward choices. Players can often take an aggressive line for a better scoring opportunity or choose a safer route. Its design makes it particularly enjoyable for match play and groups who like competitive golf.

Best for: Golfers who enjoy strategic decisions and risk-and-reward play.

9. Leadbetter Course – David Leadbetter

The Leadbetter Course reflects the teaching philosophy of renowned golf instructor David Leadbetter. The course features generous fairways, shorter par 4s and elevated tee shots, giving golfers opportunities to score. However, strategically positioned bunkers and uneven lies mean that accuracy and club selection remain important. It is designed to challenge golfers without being unnecessarily intimidating and is a good option for groups with mixed abilities.

Best for: Mixed-handicap groups and golfers who prefer strategic, playable golf.

10. Norman Course – Greg Norman

The Norman Course is regarded as one of the more challenging courses at Mission Hills. Designed by Australian golf legend Greg Norman, the 7,228-yard layout reflects the traditional characteristics of Australia's famous Sandbelt courses. Narrow fairways, native grasses and dense vegetation place a premium on accuracy. The front nine winds through dramatic mountain ridges, while the back nine moves through lush valleys. The combination of length, natural hazards and elevation changes makes this a serious test for experienced golfers.

Best for: Low-handicap golfers and players looking for a demanding round.
