Hue: A Rising Golf Destination on Vietnam’s Central Coast
Wednesday, 29 January 2025

Hue, a city renowned for its UNESCO World Heritage status and rich cultural heritage, is quickly making a name for itself as a premier golf destination in Vietnam.

With the introduction of world-class courses like Laguna Lang Co Golf Course and the newly opened Golden Sands Golf Course, golf enthusiasts now have even more reasons to visit this historic coastal city. Conveniently located near the iconic Hue Citadel, these courses offer not only top-tier golfing experiences but also easy access to the former royal palace of Vietnam’s last dynasty.

Laguna Lang Co Golf Course: A Spectacular Blend of Nature and Golf

Designed by six-time major champion Sir Nick Faldo, Laguna Lang Co is an 18-hole championship course that beautifully integrates the diverse landscapes of Vietnam. This stunning course takes golfers on a journey through dense forests, terraced rice fields, winding streams, and pristine beachfront, creating a truly immersive experience.

The 8th, 9th, and 10th holes provide breathtaking views of the open sea, while the signature 5th hole, a par-3, challenges players with a massive bunker in front of the green and large surrounding mounds. Tee distances range from 117 to 206 yards, ensuring a dynamic challenge for all skill levels.

With six tee boxes, Laguna Lang Co caters to golfers of varying abilities, from beginners to professionals. However, its strategically placed bunkers and varied terrain make for a challenging yet rewarding round, particularly for those looking to test their skills.

Golden Sands Golf Course: Vietnam’s Most Challenging New Course

Opened in September 2024, Golden Sands Golf Course is located just 20 kilometers east of downtown Hue, making it easily accessible for visitors. Designed by legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus and his Nicklaus Design team, this seaside course is already regarded as one of the most challenging in Vietnam.

Stretching an impressive 7,519 yards, Golden Sands is defined by its natural sand dunes, dramatic undulations, and ever-changing sea breezes. These elements make shot selection and strategy crucial, as the wind patterns shift unpredictably throughout a round.

The highlights of the course include the challenging uphill 13th hole (par-3) that plays toward the opposite direction of the sea, the 14th hole (par-4) that offers excellent sea views while hitting downhill from the hill, and the unique 15th hole (par-5) that runs parallel to the sea.

The deep bunkers surrounding the greens and the expansive 1,300-square-meter putting surfaces (about 50% larger than standard greens) demand accurate approach shots and confident long putts. While the course presents a formidable challenge, its design ensures that lost balls are kept to a minimum, allowing players to fully enjoy the experience.

With Laguna Lang Co’s scenic diversity and Golden Sands’ strategic challenges, Hue is quickly becoming a must-visit destination for golf travelers in Vietnam. Whether you're seeking a breathtaking course nestled in nature or a championship-level challenge by the sea, Hue’s emerging golf scene offers the best of both worlds.
